Just over five years ago, I completed my Master’s in BPMIT after two and a half years with the words: “Yay me!”
Today, I can say those words once again. After no less than two years and 29 days of persevering, learning, presenting, writing, analysing (and above all, keep going!), I have officially as an Executive Master of Finance & Control (EMFC/ RC).
So… Yay me .. again!
This journey was by no means easy. It involved full Fridays spent in the classroom, intensive courses, exams, group assignments, papers, presentations, case studies and a substantial research component. (Even listing this is exhausting 🙈.)
All of this alongside family life, work and everyday responsibilities.
There are a few people I would especially like to thank:
My supervisor, Katlijn, for her sharp perspective, valuable feedback and rapid responses to each new version of my work. Thanks to her guidance, the research process ran smoothly. Thank you! 🙏
The lecturers and staff of the programme, and in particular the ever-reliable cornerstone of the programme, Sabine 🌟
Of course, my sincere thanks also go to the figurehead of the programme, Harold 🎓
My partner and my daughter, for their constant support and flexibility, especially during my rather obsessive research phase. And to my daughter in particular: this diploma is dedicated to you, to show you that you are never too old to learn. It was a special time indeed: you studying for your tests while I was studying for my exams. 📚
Everyone who took the time to complete my survey: your contribution was essential to my research. Thank you! 📋
And finally, yes: I would like to thank myself. For persevering when fatigue set in and energy or enthusiasm were hard to find; for balancing study, work and personal life; and for continuing to believe that I could do this (and that I can!). Whoohoo! ✔️
✨ This adventure has come to an end; the diploma is officially in the pocket. ✨
And now? Now I plan to enjoy my new luxury problem: free time 😉
